Lifelong friends turned long-time business partners!

As lifelong friends turned business partners for several decades, we found ourselves at a crossroads, contemplating our next chapter after a career shift. With a shared passion for business, sports management, and coaching, the dream of pickleball emerged as the perfect fit.

Pickleball offered everything we were seeking: a sense of community, competition, fun, and engagement.

Our journey began as instructors for the City of Santa Barbara and gradually evolved as we expanded our business during the Covid era, when safe outdoor activities were in high demand. Upon securing the lease at Earl Warren, we were able to enhance our offerings to include scrambles, ladder leagues, tournaments, lessons, clinics, academies, and ball machine rentals.

What initially started as an initiative to cultivate a community around Pickleball events soon transformed into something more profound. Through Pickleball as our vehicle, we discovered the ability to foster a culture of play. This culture is deeply rooted in the values of social interaction, the aspiration to improve as players, and ultimately, to become better individuals.

Dave and Tracy were introduced to pickleball by a mutual friend.  After the first outing, they visited the local Pickleball courts and navigated the scary first experience of open play. They slowly developed relationships in the Pickleball community and started to develop their love for the game in a more competitive manner.

Dave and Tracy both play at the 4.5/5.0 level and have transformed their play through hard work and perseverance.  Prior to Pickleball, they were recreational and club soccer and basketball coaches for their children’s teams. They have coached youth sports for over 20 years. It was a natural transition from youth sports to coaching pickleball.

Ben found Pickleball through Dave and Tracy and soon shared the mutual adoration for the sport.  Ben and Dave have been best friends since 9th grade and have worked together in business ventures for 11 years. The transition to building a business around Pickleball and retiring from student housing management seems like a no-brainer.  Ben is a highly competitive player and loves to play singles.
